Mayor Jim Ridenour,
President of the League of California Cities


Modesto Mayor Jim Ridenour is serving his second term as Mayor and will term out of office in November 2011. The long-time Modesto resident has served, and continues to serve, under the basic premise of “the first functions of city government are to provide basic services and to respect your tax dollars.” The foundation of Mayor Ridenour’s campaign for Mayor and his time in office have been based on creating jobs/economic development, solving transportation problems, managing growth, collaboration, improving quality of life and political reform.

Mayor Ridenour was the first paramedic certified in Santa Barbara County in 1974, and continued to serve in some capacity or another in the ambulance business for the next four decades. At the time of his retirement, Mayor Ridenour was the top operations executive for Central Valley Operations of American Medical Response and he served five terms as Chairman of the California Ambulance Association.

Mayor Ridenour and his wife Renee enjoy living in Modesto with their three children, numerous grandchildren and the entire Ridenour clan.
