BODY RECOVERED; BELIEVED TO BE MISSING MODESTO MAN

Modesto, CA – The investigation of a missing Modesto man has led to the discovery of a body in the Sierra Mountains.

On December 5^th, Modesto Police began investigating the suspicious disappearance of Hubert Henry McKinley Jr, a 65-year-old Modesto man.  A family member last saw McKinley in the evening hours on December 1^st.  Patrol officers immediately referred the case to detectives.

As the investigation progressed homicide detectives questioned McKinley’s roommate, Albert Moss.  Moss, a 55-year-old Modesto resident, became the focus of the investigation in recent days.  Moss led detectives to an area just east of the small town of Sierra Village.  

Cadaver dogs were used to confirm the location where McKinley was believed to be buried.  At about noon today detectives uncovered the body of a male adult, believed to be that of Hubert McKinley.  The body was found buried in a shallow grave and beneath several inches of snow just south of Highway 108.

Homicide detectives and officials with the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office recovered the body late this afternoon.  Positive identification is pending.

Albert Moss was arrested and booked at the Stanislaus County jail on Tuesday night.  He has been charged with murder.
