Forestry crews maintain the City's 200,000
street and park trees through the programmed
tree pruning cycle. Forestry crews are also
responsible for the collection of the City's green waste, leaf and holiday tree programs.

- The City of Modesto has been recognized by
the National Arbor Day Foundation as a “Tree
City USA” each year since 1980.
- Community Forestry has been an Accredited
Forestry Department by the Society of Municipal
Arborists since 1990.
- The Pearl Street Pistache was patented in
November of 1994.
- The original Modesto Ash in César Chávez
Park is recognized by the American Forestry
Association National Register of Big Trees.
