Transportation
The transportation component of the Public Works Department focuses on the movement of people. This is accomplished
through the Modesto City-County Airport, Public Transportation Systems,
Streets, and Parking Divisions.
Modesto City-County Airport
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Stanislaus County’s air transportation hub, which is jointly owned
by the City of Modesto and Stanislaus County, and is operated by the City of Modesto. Additional information is available

Transit
Provides public transportation service on Modesto Area Express/MAX, Modesto Area Dial-A-Ride, BART Commuter Express
and Altamont Commuter Express (ACE). Additional information is available on the

Streets Division
The Streets Division is responsible for maintaining
and repairing potholes, repaving city streets, street
sweeping, maintenance of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and
alleys, and the timely removal of graffiti.
